I started three Malabar spinach plants earlier this year. One of them is growing like crazy on an indoor window sill, and three days ago I decided to move the second plant outdoors. I want it to climb the pergola I built last spring.
I had to add a temporary stick for it to climb last week — it really grows fast once it starts climbing! I’m a bit worried about it having to climb the black metal frame, since it gets really cold during these first spring nights and really hot during the day, but I’m giving it a try. I carefully removed the stick it had been climbing and tried to wrap it around the pergola frame instead, using a string to tie it up.
Yesterday I was happy to see it had found its way and started climbing up, up, up again.
